Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PureTab, operated by HappyDeveloper("PureTab," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the PureTab website, Chrome extension, account features, community preset features, and paid services.
PureTab is designed as a local-first custom new tab experience. Core extension features work without creating an account. Sign-in is optional and is used for account-linked features such as saving presets, syncing account data, publishing or managing community presets, billing, and support.
1. Information We Process
1.1 Information processed without sign-in
When you use PureTab without signing in, core extension data is primarily stored locally in your browser. This may include dashboard layout, widget settings, notes, todos, bookmarks or shortcuts you create inside PureTab, wallpaper preferences, accent and appearance settings, search provider preferences, countdowns, focus settings, and other extension configuration data.
Local extension data is stored using browser storage technologies such as Chrome extension storage, local storage, or similar browser-provided storage mechanisms. This data is intended to remain on your device and is not sent to PureTab servers unless you choose to use an account-linked feature or otherwise provide the data to us.
1.2 Information processed when you choose to sign in
If you choose to sign in, we may process account-related information necessary to provide account-linked features. This may include your email address, Google account identifier, display name, profile image, authentication session data, account status, saved preset data, layout data, public or private preset metadata, content you publish or share, billing status, plan information, transaction identifiers, and support communications.
1.3 Public preset and community content
If you publish or share a preset, the content and metadata associated with that preset may be visible to other users. This may include preset name, description, layout, widget configuration, preview image or screenshot, creator display name or handle, publication status, update time, and other information needed to display and manage the preset.
Do not publish personal, confidential, copyrighted, illegal, or sensitive information in public presets.
1.4 Billing information
If you purchase paid features, payment processing is handled by Polar. PureTab does not store full card numbers or raw payment card information. We may receive and store limited billing-related information such as payment status, subscription status, plan type, payment date, renewal status, cancellation status, invoice or transaction identifiers, refund status, and chargeback or fraud-prevention records.
1.5 Technical logs and security data
We may process limited technical information for security, fraud prevention, service reliability, debugging, abuse prevention, and incident response. This may include IP address, user agent, browser type, device type, request timestamps, authentication events, error logs, access logs, and similar technical information.
We do not use technical logs for advertising or cross-context behavioral tracking.
1.6 Third-party features
Some PureTab features may connect you to third-party services. Search features may send your query to the search provider you select, such as Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, or Naver. Embedded media features, such as YouTube embeds, may be processed by the relevant media provider. Wallpaper or image features, such as Unsplash images if used, may involve requests to the relevant image provider.
These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. PureTab does not control how independent third-party services process data when you choose to use them.
2. How We Use Information
We use information only for purposes reasonably related to operating, securing, improving, and supporting PureTab. These purposes include providing the extension and website, authenticating users, maintaining accounts, saving and syncing account-linked presets, displaying public presets, managing paid plans, processing billing and refunds, providing customer support, preventing fraud and abuse, responding to legal obligations, debugging errors, maintaining service security, and notifying users about material service or policy changes.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use personal data for targeted advertising. We do not use Google user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
3. Google Sign-In and Google User Data
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive limited Google account information necessary for authentication and account management. This may include your Google account identifier, email address, display name, and profile image if available.

For the Chrome extension, our handling of user data also follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including applicable Limited Use requirements.
